Rylard Plus Enamels

A classic, high-gloss, conventional boat enamel for general purpose use above the waterline both internal and external.

Traditional high quality long oil alkyd enamel formulated to give excellent gloss,flow and weather resistance. Will give heat resistance up to 150oC.

PERFORMANCE/USE: Suitable for use as the finishing coat on topsides and interior work on all types of leisure marine craft, including narrowboats, river cruisers and yachts. Rylard Plus Enamel dries dust free in 3-4 hours and will be hard dry overnight.

Rylard Raddle

Rylard Raddle is a single pack semi-gloss finish based on alkyd resin, strengthened with specially selected extenders and formulated using durable lead free pigments.

Having both good resistance to oil and water, Rylard Raddle is ideal for use in the marine environment. Rylard Raddle offers an excellent reduction in reflection and glare when used on boat roofs and is also suitable for use when a dull traditional heritage finished is required.

Rylard Plus Undercoats

Traditional high quality long oil alkyd undercoat formulated to work as undercoat for Rylard Plus Enamel.

PERFORMANCE/USE: Suitable for use as the undercoat for Rylard plus enamels on topsides and interior work on all types of leisure marine craft, including narrow boats, river cruisers and yachts.

Rylard undercoat dries dust free in 3-4 hours and will be hard dry for subsequentpainting overnight.

Rylard Clean Cut Antifouling

Copper oxide based, free from organic booster biocides. Suitable for steel, wood and fibreglass hulls with turbulence speeds of up to 30 knots. Designed for use in fresh and salt water. For full protection 2 coats are required per season.

NB Unsuitable for aluminium, galvanised surfaces or over Teflon based coatings.

Rylard  Primers for Wood, Steel, Fibreglass, Aluminium

Brushing and spraying primer for use on all wooden surfaces.

A specially formulated primer for application to polyester glass fibre, to provide adhesion to the surface and allow for additional finishing operations.

Brushing and spraying primer for use on ferrous or non-ferrous surfaces to inhibit corrosion.

Brushing and spraying primer-filler for use on pitted or uneven metal surfaces to give an even surface for fine finishing.

Bitumen Based Coatings

RYTEX

A versatile, high performance bodied bitumen solution which gives an attractive satin finish. Easy to apply and quick drying. Specially formulated for permanent water immersion conditions, RYTEX will out perform traditional bituminous paints.

PREMIUM PROTECTION

High performance bitumen coating containing Gilsonite. Has excellent weather resistance, abrasion resistance, allied to a degree of oil & diesel resistance. PREMIUM PROTECTION has a deep black gloss finish which is easy to apply and will have a longer life than conventional bitumen paints. PREMIUM PROTECTION is ideal as a refresher coat over any bottom blacking.

Bitumen based coatings are suitable for both new application and refurbishment. In most cases they can be applied directly over existing coatings. However we recommend that a test area be checked first before commencing painting the entire hull.

Coal Tar Pitch Based Coatings

STANDARD BLACK

Easily applied, fast drying low viscosity coal tar varnish. Pleasant gloss appearance with better gloss retention than bitumen paints. Also exhibits resistance to oil & diesel.

COFLEX VT

Vinyl Tar coating with excellent oil & diesel resistance, allied to abrasion resistance, flexibility and weather resistance. The product of choice for high quality hull protection. COFLEX VT dries to a pleasant matt finish with good application properties.

Coal Tar Pitch products whilst being easy to apply are recommended for professional use only. Particularly suited for new work, they can be used for refurbishment but they should not be applied over surfaces previously painted with bitumen based products.

Rylard Holding Coat Red Oxide/Zinc Phosphate Holding coat

Brushing and spraying holding coat for use over Rylard zinc phosphate primer to increase corrosion protection and provide interim protection of newly built hulls during storage before final painting and fitting out.

Semi-Gloss holding coat containing zinc phosphate anti-corrosive pigments to give additional corrosion protection over Rylard zinc phosphate primer. Semi-Gloss finish aids rain and dirt shed, improving temporary protection features.

Before further decoration it is recommended that weathered holding coat be thoroughly washed and lightly sanded with 280/320 grit wet & dry paper. Any areas showing signs of surface corrosion should be abraded and re-primed with 25773-R2 zinc phosphate primer.

Rylard Paint Conditioner

Resin/solvent combination, containing Linseed Oil, formulated for addition to Rylard plus enamel to ensure correct flow and gloss are achieved when humidity/temperature conditions are not ideal.

At certain times of the year, or under certain applications conditions, the temperature orhumidity conditions prevailing when Rylard Boat Paint or Varnish is applied may affectthe flow, levelling or gloss of the applied coating.

For these adverse conditions it is recommended that RYLAID Paint Conditioner is added to the gloss or top varnish coat to ensure that the expected high gloss and smooth

finish is achieved.

Rylard Degreaser ID1 500

ID I500 is a highly effective and economical concentrated, water based degreaser that is used to degrease oil-contaminated panels prior to over coating.

Being a concentrate the product will require diluting with water prior to application at the following dilution rates.

Paint Work: 100:1 Bare Steel: 50:1

Rylard Rust Konverta

Rylard Rust Konverta is a water based chelating polymer designed for field application to rusted steel which has been hand or power cleaned, or sand blasted.

Rust Konverta neutralizes the corrosion process. It reacts quickly with the rust and transforms iron oxides into a stable and insoluble blue-black metallo-organic complex which will be ready for painting after reaction.

Reaction time depends upon ambient temperature and degree of rust and it is not necessary to wash the surface with water after reaction. Rust Konverta is also an excellent adhesion promoter for subsequent coating systems

Rylard  Brass Lacquer (was known as  Incralac Brass Lacquer)

Air drying clear lacquer originally developed to stringent military standards for use in protecting non ferrous metals in arduous conditions, typically brass shell cases.

Incralac is now used in many marine applications for protecting such metals as brass and copper, and is

intended for interior or exterior use. With an excellent balance of hardness, adhesion and filmtoughness, Incralac has excellent resistance to UV light and resists yellowing and loss of gloss and clarity upon ageing. The applied film also provides excellent flexibilityand resistance to cracking and flaking.

Rylard Water Tank Coating

New legislation has resulted in the withdrawal of the Water Research council's approval of bitumen for use in water tanks and equipment for all public services. This will mean that bituminous solutions will not be approved by the WRC but its continuing use on existing bituminised tanks will be permitted under BS 3416. For the majority of private boat owners they will still be able to use bitumen coatings such as Rylard water tank coating (bituminous) to BS 3416.

Used to protect water tanks from damage and corrosion.

Rylard Bilge & Engine Bay Paint

Traditional high quality long oil alkyd enamel formulated specifically as a gloss finish for engine bays and other below deck areas, to give excellent gloss and flow. Will give heat resistance up to 150oC.

Suitable for use as the finishing coat for engine bays and all below deck areas on all types of leisure marine craft, including narrowboats, river cruisers and yachts. Has excellent resistance to oils and fuels.

Rylard Engine Bay Paint dries dust free in 3-4 hours and will be hard dry overnight.

Excellent heat resistance makes Rylard Engine Bay Paint also ideal for use as an engine paint.

Rylard  Cement Filler  - Now discontinued

Cement Filler White(A799)

Cement filler is supplied in paste form in white. It should always be applied after coats of primer and will flat down with wet or dry paper 3-4 hours after application. Whilst remaining flexible when dry it will not shrink or crack and is ideal for filling screw or nail holes, bruises or seams. When thinned with White Spirits large areas may be covered by 'broad knife' technique.

Rylard Slip Resistant Deck Paint Kit

Smooth fine aggregate powder designed for addition to Rylard Plus Enamel to produce a non-slip coating suitable for upper deck areas and walkways.

Supplied in a 1 litre size container, to produce an anti-slip paint simply add 1 x 750ml can of Rylard Plus Enamel of the chosen colour to the container and thoroughly stir. It is recommended that the anti-slip paint thus produced be applied by brush.
