Reactive Resins Epoxy Resins and Hardeners

Epoxy resin & hardeners that are suitable for most marine resin applications including; fibreglass repair, repairing gel coat, and general marine epoxy use.

The epoxy resin can also be used for artwork, surfboards, snowboards, RC Cars, and many other laminating projects.

Syntac liquid epoxy resins are available in 3 standard grades that can be used with Synamin hardeners to produce ambient, low bake and heat cure systems.

Synamin epoxy hardeners are available in three categories for ambient, low bake and heat cure processes.

Syntaflex EPPU series are a new generation of hybrid resins which have the advantages of both epoxy and polyurethane resins. They offer greater flexibility, adhesion and toughness than standard epoxy resins but have reduced heat resistance. They are cured with epoxy curing agents which are selected for their compatibility with the base resin.

Syntac EPA is a high viscosity bisphenol A type epoxy resin. It is our lowest cost resin and it has medium reactivity and good heat, water and chemical resistance. It’s high viscosity is not a problem when used at temperatures above 15ºC with Synamin 200 series hardeners. Suitable for use as an adhesive and for general boat building applications. Not suitable for resin infusion or injection due to its high viscosity.

Syntac EPAF is a blend of bisphenol A and bisphenol F type epoxy resins. It has medium viscosity and reactivity combined with excellent heat and chemical resistance due to its high cross-link density. Excellent for use as an adhesive and for fillet bonding etc. It can be used in winter conditions when Syntac EPA resin would be too viscous to handle.

Syntac EPAFD is an industry standard low viscosity resin that contains di-functional reactive diluents and is suitable for general marine and industrial use. It produces smooth coatings free from fish eyes or dimples. When mixed with Synamin200 series hardeners it can be used alone or with a range of fillers for general bonding, coating and laminating.

Synamin 200 Series Ambient Cure Epoxy Hardeners

Synamin epoxy hardeners have been developed to produce the optimum physical properties combined with ease of use. All Synamin products are non toxic, they do not contain phenol or genetically dangerous chemicals and rarely cause allergic reaction to users.

Synamin 200 series hardeners have a convenient mix ratio of 2 parts resin to 1 part of hardener, by weight. They cure at ambient temperatures and can be used with Syntac EPAFD, EPA and EPAF epoxy resins. The mixed resins can be used with a range of fillers, fibres and thickeners for numerous applications such as filleting, gluing, fairing, coating etc. The resin and hardener should preferably be accurately weighed in their correct proportions but for non critical applications hand pumps may be used.

Synamin 201 is an economically priced cycloaliphatic diamine based epoxy compound with a pot life of 45 minutes at 20ºC. Synamin 201 has very low vapour pressure and a convenient mix ratio of 50% by weight of epoxy resin. It provides adequate physical properties for most marine applications.

Synamin 220 is a cycloaliphatic diamine based epoxy compound with a pot life of 25 minutes. It is extremely resistant to carbonation or blooming and will cure to a glossy finish even in damp conditions. Synamin 220 has a mix ratio of 50% by weight of epoxy resin. Better physical properties than Synamin 201.
